Taxes are Due!

taxes_editorial

Here’s a deadline that’s not listed on your syllabus. Your taxes are due on April 15th! The Feds won’t let Rover do your taxes for you, but he does have some great advice for your taxing woes.

Have a clear idea of your dependency status. Avoid complications and discuss with your parents whether they plan to claim you or not. If you are not providing more than 50% of your own support, then you are not entitled to take your own personal exemption.

The American Opportunity Credit and the Lifetime Learning Credit are available for students or those who claim students. Credits can be claimed up to $2,500 if you are an eligible taxpayer.

Know what you can deduct. The cost of job hunting, resume software, and textbooks are all deductibles.

And in case you don’t get the refund you were looking for, check RoverTown for discounts specially dug up for you!

P.S. – I’m not a CPA…I’m a dog. If I could, I would refund you in bones.

Rover loves springtime! Flowers are blooming, sun is shining, and homes need cleaning. For those of you who are preparing for the summer season, Rover found a better way to clean your dorm or apartment. Forget Britney Spears and go toxic-LESS for your spring cleaning sesh.

Basic All-Purpose Cleaner
1/4 Cup white vinegar
2 Tbsp. baking soda
1 Liter hot water
A few drops of essential oil

Combine the ingredients. Allow for cooling before storing in a spray bottle. Tea tree essential oil has antiseptic properties, but you may also exclude this oil or substitute for lemon or lavender scents.

Glass Cleaner
2 tsp white vinegar
1 liter warm water

Mix ingredients. Use black and white newspaper or cotton cloth to clean. Don’t add any more than 2 tsp of white vinegar or the glass could cloud.

P.S. – If you cleaned out your pantry as well, check out RoverTown for our sweet Little Caesars discount for dinner tonight!
